New IH Adelaide Campus Opens a World of Opportunities

International House World Organisation is delighted to announce that the IH Adelaide campus will be opening in October 2022.

IH World is a global network of 140 affiliated language schools in more than 45 countries. Founded in 1953, all IH schools are members because they are committed to the very highest standards in language education face-to-face and online. Across the IH network, schools train about half of all CELTA graduates in the world. The organisation has well over 200,000 students and its member schools employ in excess of 5,800 teachers.

“The opening of IH Adelaide is fantastic news and a real testament to the hard work of the IH Sydney Training Services team,” says Beccy Wigglesworth, Director of Member Services at IHWO. “Their flexible model promises more opportunities to both students and agents and it's great to see IH schools adapting to the changing market and exploring new opportunities. We are thrilled for Tim and his team and admire their dedication to providing top educational and cultural experiences.”

This new addition to the organisation means that the IH network in Australia now consists of 8 schools. As a leading provider of English-language, teacher-training, and career-focused education, IH Sydney Training Services has grown significantly from its one-campus origins in the past 12 years under the guidance of CEO and owner, Tim Eckenfels.

“Our reach is global, but our culture and approach are friendly and personal. That is why people travel from around the world to study with us and benefit from our expertise,” says Tim.

IH Sydney Training Services has flourished particularly in the past few years, even during the pandemic. They have expanded into delivering both English language and vocational, career-focused courses including project management, leadership and management, business, social media and digital marketing. With all these new opportunities, it was only a matter of time before they opened a new centre.

The IH Sydney Training Services team realised that delivering the right experience didn’t necessarily mean being in the largest and most well-known cities, students want to enjoy a diverse range of experiences. Both agents and students care about choice as different people respond to different environments.

One of the great attractions of the network of IH schools in Australia is that students can easily move between the campuses while keeping the same timetable and without incurring any extra cost. Moving from ELICOS to career-focused courses with the same provider is a valuable benefit for students. As is the opportunity to change destinations according to their needs and lifestyle. Students can start learning English in Melbourne and build on those skills with specific career-focused education in Byron Bay, the Gold Coast or, from now on, in Adelaide.

If students choose to work in the vineyards in the south of the country, they can now pick between IH Adelaide and IH Melbourne, surfing aficionados and novices can combine riding waves with English classes at IH Byron Bay and IH Gold Coast. Students wanting a dose of city life can soak up all that IH Sydney City has to offer, while adventurers can base themselves at IH Darwin. Instead of having to choose between work, travel and study, students can now do both with the programmes offered by IH Sydney Training Services.

Eckenfels says that IH Adelaide will give students in South Australia the best opportunity to reach their language and educational goals. The new campus will offer English language courses, teacher training courses and highly regarded vocational training courses in business and business-related subjects.

“After getting such a great response to the opening of our new IH Gold Coast and IH Byron Bay campuses in 2021, we wanted to continue into South Australia,” said Mr Eckenfels. Adelaide, the capital of South Australia, was a strategic next step as it has become a top destination for international students.

The capital of South Australia is a cosmopolitan city of almost 30,000 inhabitants with broad, tree-lined boulevards and a meandering river with parklands. It’s known for being friendly, affordable, and easily accessible. It’s a lively cultural hub with a busy festival calendar and plenty of opportunities to hear live music and see different performance arts.

“It has a European feel with an Aussie vibe,” says Eckenfels. “Outside of class, students can go to the theatre, take a surf, head to the cricket or a winery, and then out for a high-quality meal. All happening within a one-hour drive from Adelaide.”

As a comprehensive and innovative education provider in Australia, IH Sydney Training Services is developing new offerings to respond to the changing needs of the market. There are now plenty of IH study options in Australia to cater to a range of audiences and support the country’s thriving market.
